The Simpsons Arrives in Rocket League: But It's Not the Car You're Dreaming Of

It was previously announced that The Simpsons was teaming up with Epic Games' battle royale, but this isn't the sole place where enthusiasts can experience the universe of Springfield. The long-running series is also making its way to the popular soccer-driving hybrid, introducing an vehicle customization option that will also be compatible in the Fortnite universe. However, if gamers will actually want to equip it is another question, as there's only one Simpsons vehicle everyone is eager to get behind the wheel of, and this isn't it.

The Dream Vehicle

While many players would absolutely enjoy to compete behind the wheel of The Homer—the notoriously impractical car the patriarch designed himself in the classic episode "the one where he meets Herb"—regrettably, that isn't what's being offered. We aren't even receiving the Canyonero, the heavy-duty vehicle featured in season 10. Instead, players are getting the Simpsons' everyday beat-up four-door, which has been in the family since 1989. Even though this particular car has seen better days, it stands as an iconic element of the series. For those who pay attention to Rocket League car hitboxes, the trusty sedan uses the same hitbox as the Dominus body type.

Additional Themed Cosmetics

But that's not the only customization item from the show arriving in Rocket League. The event will also include a set of objectives to unlock more goodies, all of which are Simpsons-themed. According to a official announcement, the missions will task players to "achieve a certain number of centers and clears as there are The Simpsons years on air, collect boost pickups as if your GPS is set to the Simpson house, and drive a distance sufficient for acquiring the perfect donuts!"

While the full lineup of challenge rewards hasn't been disclosed, here is what's been announced up to this point:

  • Blinky antenna topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Garbage-themed wheels
  • 20,000 XP per challenge

Based on promotional images is any indication, it seems fans will also get wheels featuring a TV showing the show's opening credits, Kang and Kodos topper, a frosted doughnut trail, and boost effects themed to smoldering rubber and Krusty Burger.

Launch Dates and Crossover Details

The Rocket League collaboration coincides with the major The Simpsons takeover of Fortnite's island, which brings a completely new map of the fictional town, in addition to a 30-day Battle Pass. This special Rocket League and Simpsons celebration launches on Saturday, Nov. 1 and concludes on November 17th.
