Super Mario Galaxy Film Preview Is Here, Introducing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voice Cast

Nintendo and Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. This occurred during a Nintendo-focused broadcast that focused exclusively on the forthcoming animated feature.

Following up on the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the far corners of the universe. There, he will encounter a different royal figure and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.

A Space-Faring Quest Drawing from Classic Games

Much like the games from the Wii period that serve as its inspiration, Mario will leave behind the well-known surroundings of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. On his epic voyage, he will meet again some well-known personalities, such as the Luma, a popular character from the previous film.

However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who reportedly wields metal-based powers. Notably, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also includes nods to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

All-Star Vocal Ensemble Come Back and Grow

The movie will welcome back of the primary vocal talent, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. It was announced by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.

Mario's Major Moment

Mario's latest cinematic adventure is planned to debut close to the 40-year celebration of the first Super Mario Bros. title. In addition to the movie, 2026 is shaping up to be a important time for Mario and his allies.

Nintendo has a trio of new releases publicly declared for the upcoming year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Release Date Confirmed

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
